Who is eligible to attend the Camporall?
scout emblems The Centennial Camporall is open to everyone. There will be activities for kids of all ages including Cub Scouts, Boy Scouts and Venturing. The event is open to the public so Scouts are encouraged to invite their friends to attend. Camping is open to all Scout units including cub packs (BSA Guidelines must be followed).
What is included in my registration fee?
dollar sign Registration for the event is $35.00 before March 15, 2010. This fee includes a commemorative t-shirt, commemorative patch, a weekend of camping, a full day or programming, a fireworks display and concert on Saturday night featuring Country music sensation Eli Young Band.
  • Families do not have to pay the $35 entry fee for siblings three years and under.
  • After March 15, the registration rises to $45 (for both new registrations and to add to an existing registration) and we won't be able to guarantee availability of patches, tshirts, etc.
Are day passes available?
Daypass Day passes are available for $15.00. You will be given a wrist band that will limit the activities that your Scout can participate in and you will not receive the participants patch, t-shirt and the youth will be unable to earn the circle patch to go around the event patch. There will be no exceptions. You can register for a daypass on the Council Doubleknot site.

We will be accepting walkins on the day of the event, but these will be for the daypass admission only and will pay $25 instead of $15.  Give the event volunteers a break.  Let us know that you're planning to attend by registering online before the event.
My Scout’s unit does not plan on attending, can we register as a family?
family camping While we encourage all Scout units to attend the Camporall, families and friends are welcome to attend. Camping guidelines must be followed if the family plans on camping, including having a trained adult and two-deep leadership (if a non-family member Scout is joining you).
I have Scouts who do not want to camp. Can they still purchase a full pass so they get everything that is included?
Bart We highly recommend that everyone purchase the full weekend pass so they receive the T-shirt, participant patch and full programming. Even if you aren’t camping, it is really the best deal when everything is added up. If your Scouts are not spending the night but you are, you will receive a packet for everyone at registration and can give them their appropriate wrist band on Saturday when they arrive.
How does registration work?

Your early registrations will help us prepare for an unforgettable event.  Event staff has to order tshirts by April 15, registrations after April 15 are not guaranteed a tshirt.

We will be accepting walkins on the day of the event, but these will be for the daypass admission only and will pay $25 instead of $15.  Give the event volunteers a break.  Let us know that you're planning to attend by registering online before the event.
What are the camping accommodations?
Camping
Thumbnail of campsite map
All Scout units will camp on the Ross County fairgrounds in a designated camping area. You will be assigned an area for your unit to camp in. Sites will be organized by District (see map left) and will have a coordinator (usually one of your district leaders, e.g. chairman, commissioner, or district executive) directing you to your sites. Camping is tent camping (units must supply their own tents) with above-ground fires. Port-o-potties will be available near the camping area.
There may not be room for big campers (the RV kind). If you're planning to bring one of these, the closest RV campground is Sun Valley Campground. There are several state parks in the area as well. See also the list of available lodging at VisitChillicotheOhio.com.

If you're a cubscout pack and would like to camp with a friendly troop, just let your coordinator know so that they assign enough room for both units.  If you're really organized, let your district leadership know before the event.
No groundfires allowed
no fires No open ground fires per order of the Fire Marshall (the fires for Order of the Arrow ceremonies needed special permits). Camp Stoves (propane or gas) are permitted as long as the usual BSA safety precautions are observed -- keep them a safe distance from the tents. Charcoal is allowed, but it has to be above ground, e.g. in a grill (no ground fires), and units are responsible for disposing of used charcoal (e.g. if you bring it in, you need to pack it out). Don't bring firewood unless you're willing to pay large fines ($4000) for breaking emerald ash borer quarantine.
Big rigs are technically allowed, but let the logistics chair know about them well before the event so that he can do a safety check and request a dinner invitation.
Will electricity be available?
Power adaptor There are 110V electrical hookups in the campground, but the recepticals are RV style. You need an adapter to use a standard extension cord or appliance plugin. See the picture at left.  These can be purchased at Sabo's or other stores that sell RV gear for about $5.00.
Will food be provided?
food Food will only be provided on Saturday for purchase. Vendors (e.g. Bob Evans) will be on site with a variety of food for meals and snacks. Your unit may choose to bring meals for Saturday or purchase them from a vendor. Units are responsible for their own dinner on Friday evening and breakfast on Sunday morning.
How will we know what to do when we arrive at the event?
directions Event staff will be assisting in the parking process and directing you to registration. Please send one representative from your unit to registration to check in your unit. At registration you will receive a packet of information and wrist bands for participants. Each registered guest will receive a commemorative program with a site map, passport, wristband, and details for earning the segments for their participant patch.
Do we have to follow any particular schedule on Saturday?
pert chart Units are expected to attend the opening ceremony at 8:00 am Saturday morning in the Grandstand. After that, you and your Scouts are free to determine your schedule for the day. In order to earn the special event patch, your Scouts will need to visit specific areas. When they choose to go to those areas is up to your leaders and Scouts. All units are expected to attend the closing ceremony at 8:00 pm on Saturday. For more information, see the schedule of events. and traffic control
Who is the Eli Young Band?
Eli Young Band All songs played by the band during the Saturday evening concert will be appropriate for kids of all ages and their families. From their website bio: The Eli Young Band’s music has all the hallmarks of youth: passion, energy, excitement. The band’s story is the definition of commitment: eight-years spent honing its sound while building to the release of its first national album. The blend of sonic exuberance and personal maturity is just one of the things that makes the Eli Young Band and their Universal Republic/Universal Records South debut, Jet Black & Jealous, such an intriguing musical property. The band combined a range of elements--vocalist Mike Eli’s ingratiating resonance, guitarist James Young’s elastic bag of sounds, bass player Jon Jones’ inventive foundation and drummer Chris Thompson’s energetic propulsion--to create a 12-song CD that paints even the difficult turns in life with an underlying optimism.
As a unit leader, what am I responsible for during the weekend?
unit leader At least one unit leader should have medical forms on hand for all Scouts (and leaders) in case of an emergency. Each unit is responsible for having its own forms on site. Unit leaders are also responsible to make sure you have two-deep leadership at all times. Cub leaders are responsible for making sure a BALOO trained adult is camping with the unit.
How do the Scouts earn the special rounder for the participation patch?
Commemorative patch from OWOP Your commemorative program will go into detail about the earning of the rounder. The Scouts will be expected to visit specific areas of the event and complete a special "code" to receive their rounder. Scouts Own (non-denominational religious service) on Sunday will be the final requirement to earn the rounder. Your Scouts will receive the rounder after Scouts Own to take with them when they leave. All requirements must be completed to qualify.
